Jair Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities concluded he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under domestic detention.

The one-time leader was found guilty of plotting a armed takeover in the ninth month and handed more than over two decades in jail, but he continued under house arrest pending court reviews.

Background on Conviction

The former president was determined responsible of heading a plot aimed at keeping him in power after he was defeated in the presidential race to his left-wing rival, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
