Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was accosted by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the incident remains unclear and no one has been arrested have been made, police said.
How It Happened
Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the building supervising the installation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, according to reports.
"The report indicates the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement said.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what resembled a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were recovered from the scene.

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have have information to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been following their trail to find their whereabouts," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.
"Words fail me. I don't have words," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were willing to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the public to not sharing explicit content from the incident, saying this was an extremely painful time, particularly for Stock's young family.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that premiered on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
