This winter transfer market is always a time of intense rumour and possible big-money moves. A number of notable footballers are being linked with transfers away from their current clubs. Here is a look at some of the key names that could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the AFCON, this has left the forward available, indications are an important move is imminent. The 25-year-old has a contract featuring a sizeable release clause active for a two-week window in early January. Latest developments point to the Premier League champions have emerged as his signature. Other interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to alternative options, leaving clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

The England defender has excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous move to Anfield collapsing. With his contract due to run out in the close season, this represents the club's last chance to secure a fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, such as Manchester City and multiple European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly be interested. Yet, a winter exit remains difficult, particularly given the coach's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Welsh winger has had first-team opportunities limited at Tottenham this term. Although finishing as the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has started just a small number of Premier League matches. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

The experienced Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça under new coach Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a January departure seems highly probable. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that option currently seems off. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

The prolific England centre-forward has kept scoring frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could enhance his dwindling hopes of making the England squad. However, securing a deal presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his alleged enormous salary render any agreement complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as interested parties.

The Turin club are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but face a race to retain one of Europe's most promising young talents.

Kees Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. This 19-year-old is heavily expected to complete a major transfer in January. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but could face strong rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
