Star Rejects Anti-Vaccine Stance Following Voicing Controversial Covid Feature
Liam Neeson has lent his voice to a recent film that casts doubt on the legitimacy of vaccinations and commends former health official the political figure.
The Feature's Contentious Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication written by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for allegations that the virus was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
Her co-author, Kent Heckenlively, has previously authored books with far-right radio host Alex Jones. Heckenlively wrote online praising Neeson's role in the project.
A Firm Denial
Representatives for Neeson have issued a comment pushing back against implications that he supports anti-immunization beliefs.
"Everyone can acknowledge that corruption might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be conflated with being against vaccines," the comment reads. "Neeson never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His long work with Unicef reinforces his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement continued that the performer was not involved in crafting the documentary's editorial content and that concerns about its assertions are best addressed to the producers.
Central Claims Within the Feature
In the film, the script provided by Neeson includes several strong statements:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have called for "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It declares that "medical science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- RFK Jr is featured saying, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- The narration further attacks pandemic restrictions, saying they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Context and Recent Disputes
The documentary also references a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a correction by the corporation for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, the political figure directed the CDC to revise its longstanding position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is repeated in the film, despite a new report from the global health body confirming no such link has been found.
An Earlier Record of Support
Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a charity ambassador.
Two years ago, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration stating, "This marks not the end of our narrative. Rather, it is the beginning of a new chapter."
